You
can specify the Interior Length and choose one of the
two interior shell diameters: the Standard 5 11/16
inch (144mm) ID shell or a Larger 6-inch (152mm) ID
shell. The Larger ID shell can provide 3/8 inch (10mm)
to 1/2 inch (12mm) of additional headroom, which is
needed for larger camcorders such as the Canon
GL1/GL2, etc. Please note that the Larger 6-inch ID
shell has a 0.28 inch (7.1mm) wall thickness and is
depth-rated to 130 feet (40m), while the Standard 5
11/16 inch ID shell has a 0.47 inch (12mm) wall
thickness and is depth-rated to 200 feet
(61m).

Larger
Shell ID - Larger camcorders that measure up to 6
inches (152mm) diagonally in height and width should
fit in the Larger 6-inch ID shell (see Figure
1).
To
determine if your camcorder will fit, draw a
front-view (actual size) sketch of the 6-inch ID
shell. Simply draw a circle (with compass) 6 inches
(152mm) in diameter. Then, draw a horizontal line 5
1/2 inches (140mm) down from the top of the circle
(see Figure 2). This line represents the top of the
camera tray. Cut out the area along the line and
around the top of the circle. See if your camcorder
will fit through the cut-out area, with the bottom of
your camcorder on the camera tray line. Note: the
camera tray can be mounted lower in the housing (or
removed) to provide more headroom. After choosing a
shell ID, you must then determine the interior length
that you require for your camera and any related
attachments, such as lenses, filters, monitors, etc.,
and add at least 0.5-1.0 inch (20mm) of free
space.
Standard
Shell ID - Camcorders that measure up to about
4.6+ inches (117mm) in height should fit in the
Standard 5 11/16 ID shell - refer to Camcorder
Compatibility
page to better determine fit. After choosing a shell
ID, you must then determine the interior length that
you require for your camera and any related
attachments, such as lenses, filters, monitors, etc.,
and add at least 0.5-1.0 inch (20mm) of free space. If
the total length you require is between 5 and 8 inches
(127 - 203mm), you should seriously consider a
Production
AquaCam HDX Video
Housing
instead of a Custom Housing. It is good to have some
extra length in your housing, and a tight fit is
generally not recommended.
In
some cases, it may be necessary for you to send us
your camcorder for proper fitting and
adjustment.
